Our Vision

To be a leader in Economic Empowerment for Africa through Business   Development and Effective Resource Management.   It is the aspiration of the Mbai Ndeteni & Associates team and partnership that Africa will grow the necessary and relevant capacity for its own development and for those of its people.  The most important resource of the continent and indeed the individual countries is the Human Resource.  Therefore it is the expectation that the continent will be able to harness, harmonise and synergise its resources both natural, technical and social, besides its human capital to develop exploit its economic potential for social empowerment and strong economic as well as business development for prosperity and posterity.

The Firm profile

Mbai Ndeteni & Associates is an accounting firm established in 1995, with Head office and practice based in Nairobi, Kenya, with several Offices in Kenya and Kigali, Rwanda. The firm has various clients in Kenya, Rwanda and East Africa at large.  The firm has strategic associations with other firms providing similar services, including one with an international network.   The firm has continued to grow at a considerably commendable pace with a highly skilled and professional workforce.

The firm provides a full range of Audit and Management Consultancy services in the areas of Business Development, Information Technology, Capacity Building, Strategic Management and Human Resources.  A fully fledged Consultancy Department deals with financial, management and other consultancy assignments.

The firm is specialized in audits and management consultancy for Commercial Businesses, Non-governmental Organizations, Church Institution and Donor Agencies, particularly in Community Development, Micro finance and Small Scale Business sectors.  The firm also undertakes specific assignments such as Management Audits, Impact Assessment, Systems Audits and Development, Taxation, Investigations and Training of Personnel.

The firm has two full time Partners as well as other Associate Partners and Managers.  Currently we are in the process of recruiting another in order to effectively provide the expanding clientele with wide services on professional requirements.

Our Managing Partner CPA Ben R. N. Mbai (MBA, CPA, CFA, CCG, CMT) is a highly experienced Finance and Management professional with over 20 years of expertise across financial analysis, investment, business planning, strategic management, and institutional development. He is the Managing Partner at Mbai Ndeteni & Associates and Director of Investment Risk and Compliance at Dyer & Blair Investment Bank Ltd, among other directorships. 

His diverse career spans private, public, and development sectors across multiple African countries. He has led and consulted in strategic financial management, systems development, institutional assessments, audit, risk analysis, and performance evaluations. His client base includes global organizations such as the World Bank, USAID, UNDP, ILO, DFID, and many others, in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and others.

Specializing in microfinance and women/youth economic empowerment, he has advised MFIs such as KWFT, UWFT, GAWFA, and others on financial sustainability and governance. He played a key role in projects like the UNDP-funded Microstart Project, contributing to enterprise development and poverty reduction. 

Ben is a certified ILO Master Trainer (SIYB), accredited Financial Analyst, and Corporate Governance Trainer. He is also a Certified Business Mentor and Trainer in Microenterprise Development. His expertise extends to taxation policy, ERP financial systems, risk management, and corporate governance, with fluency in English and French.
